CAPES COACHING BLOG
Coaching tips, information, inspiration, and everything in between for your artistic career.
Rediscovering Your Creative Flow
The industry is shutting down for the holidays soon. That means it's crickets in your inbox as the end of the year approaches. Instead of letting apathy or despair take over, spend this valuable downtime figuring out what helps bring you closer to your creative flow.
Don’t Step on the Snail
It's SO easy to rush through life feeling like there's not enough time for anything.
But what if every time we felt like we were behind with a goal or a project or a relationship, we actually weren’t?
Maybe, just maybe, everything takes the time it takes.
Find your anchor
Having an anchor can be a powerful way to connect with positive feelings and memories that can restore your confidence, focus and belief in yourself.
How your Core Values can guide you
Naming your core values can be incredibly supportive in identifying the what, how, and why of this quest to grow more fully into yourself.
They can inform what you choose to commit to growing toward, how you want to do that growing, and then energize you along the way, reminding you why you're putting all this work in.
You will tell them YES
The career path you've chosen is not an easy one. This industry is full of people who will constantly tell you NO.
But if this is something that you MUST do — NEED to do — then you will tell them YES.
The Power of Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm is a combination of sense and purpose, and it's the necessary fuel to propel you toward your goals. Without it, the journey becomes a real slog and the chances of success are slim.
The virtues of practicing
It's easy to focus strictly on the goal and not the journey needed to reach it.
There's nothing magical and mysterious about what it takes to master something — practice, dedication, and hard work.
Friends with (creative) benefits
What we gain in today's world of productivity and instant information, we often lose in deep connections and serious contemplation.
Investing in a true creative friendship is not just something that can enrich your artistic work, it's something that can also seriously enrich your life.
What's your can of spinach?
The creative arts industry is a notoriously tough business.
What actions will you take to stay strong and resilient?
Rediscovering the love
The truth is that the arts and entertainment business isn’t poetic. It is, after all, a business. And while the aims of your efforts are often emotionally moving, the daily immersion and often-grinding pace can dull your sensitivity to the very thing that once inspired you.
Mysteries Around The Corner
After what has been a fulfilling summer where I was able to find some moments to unwind, just like you (probably), I am returning from summer plugged into my device way more than I want to be — focusing on the news, my calendar, work, and preparing for the general whirlwind that is September. Thankfully, though, I got a wake-up call over the weekend that reminded me just how important it is to pay attention. And I don't mean to your phone. I'm talking about your surroundings.
