PRIVATE COACHING
Success looks different for everyone. We help you find out what it means to you and how to make it a reality.
What is Private Coaching?
We know, firsthand, that there are no one-size-fits-all solutions. Your needs are unique to who you are, and we’ll walk with you on your specific path, empowering you to achieve your goals. In a nutshell, we help you get clear on what’s working in your life and career, and what’s not. And then we get the parts that aren’t working, WORKING.
Your coach will ask you the right questions, redirect your energy, help focus your goals, and enable you to take action in a way that’s authentic to who you are and what you want. Each session will strengthen your capabilities, giving you practical tools to make changes that will propel you forward — no formula, no magic pills, no therapy sessions. Yes, we will address your blocks (looking at you: inner critics, negative self-talk, self-doubt, and fear), but only to move them aside. And don’t worry about HOW to move them, we’re here to help you with the “how.” You just have to believe that it can be done.
How do I know if Private Coaching is right for me?
You know that scary/excited feeling you get when something feels oh-so-right and terrifying at the same time, like the best kind of gut-punch? If you’re feeling that right now, as you read this, then it’s right for you.
If you’re hearing a voice inside of you saying, “I’m ready to play a bigger game in my life; I’m ready for accountability and to be called out on my BS; and I’m ready to actually show up for myself,” then it’s right for you.
If you’re tired of going to your friends and family for career advice that’s always biased and usually of suspect quality, and you’re ready to be seen and heard by a professional who’s dedicated to your success… you guessed it — it’s right for you.
Getting Started
Private coaching is a serious investment in YOU — in your growth as a human, and your development as a creative being ready to make your mark on this world.
You should be a person who is ready to step up their game. Play hard. Take risks. Be brave. Be vulnerable. Step outside of your Comfort Zone. And any other cliches we left out.
For First-Time Clients
We begin with a consultation call to discuss what you’re looking for and to make sure that coaching is right for you. From there, we’ll schedule your Focus Session.
The 90-minute Focus Session is an introduction to the power of the coaching relationship. Regardless of whether you decide to continue with ongoing coaching, you will leave this 90-minute session with drastically increased clarity and an action plan based on your goals for the session. At the end of this session, we reserve some time to discuss next steps, including whether we both feel this is a good fit to continue with coaching — this is, after all, a two-way street.
We know that this is major investment of your time and money and we take it very seriously. Any questions you may have about the coaching process will be answered during your consultation call.

Finally, coaching only works when we are clear about our expectations and commitments to ourselves and each other. With that in mind…
What You Can Expect From Us (Our Commitment to You)
We will research you and learn as much as we can about you from your Intake Questionnaire, as well as anything you choose to provide us with ahead of time that relates to our work together.
We will show up and be present, authentic, and committed to the changes you want to make in your life. We will listen deeply and with an open heart to where you are right now in your life and where you want to go.
We will ask you hard questions and challenge you. We will get to the core of an issue and look at it honestly with you. We will brainstorm with you and provide new insights and perspectives. But we will not fix you… because you are not broken. If you believe you are, this is not the right fit for you.
We will NOT tell you what to do or assume that we know best. This is a collaboration. If you’re just looking for advice, we’re probably not for you.
We will take notes during your session and, if you request it, we will also record the session (via Zoom) for your reference.
We will give you a homework assignment — something actionable and specific that we design together and that you commit to — and we will hold you accountable to that commitment. Whatever we agree on, we will honor. You have our word.
What We Expect From You (Your Commitment to Us)
You will complete the Focus Session Intake Questionnaire and send it to us no later than 48 hours before the start of your session. We will be asking you questions that will require you to dig deep and be honest about why you’ve come to us and what you hope to get from this coaching experience.
You will show up to your coaching session on time, doing your best to be in a quiet space with a solid Wi-Fi connection and no distractions. We believe that the way you show up to coaching reflects your commitment to the process. Let’s not waste each others’ time. Deal?
You will be prepared to talk about what you want support with in great depth.
You will bring your truth and courage, specifically when it comes to what you may not know right now or be able to see clearly. We are coming together because you are ready to make a shift in your life. You may not know how you will do it, and that’s okay. Just come ready to connect and we’ll take it from there.
You believe that you are in charge of your life. Coaching is about taking ownership and being empowered to change what needs to be changed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How often do clients coach?
A: It varies. If you choose to go into a package after your Focus Session, you’ll have the option of doing sessions once per month or once per quarter, depending on the package. However, some clients choose to accelerate their packages and coach on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, depending on their goals. You and your coach will discuss what’s best for you at the end of your Focus Session.
Q: Who will I be coaching with?
A: Our current coaching roster includes Betsy Capes & Liza Dickinson. You can read their bios here.
Q: What if I’m not an artist?
A: That’s cool! Although we tend to attract creative professionals, we welcome clients from “all walks of careers.” The work we do can apply to any type of career or profession.
Q: What if I'm interested in Private Coaching but also thinking about purchasing The Creative Path Course?
A: If we had our wish, everyone would go through The Creative Path Course FIRST and then work with us privately — that’s how much we believe in the curriculum. That said, there are some instances where Private Coaching is a better fit for your needs, such as if you are looking for individual support in a specific area of your life or career (i.e. help with navigating the relationship with your representation, or help making a specific career decision) or if you are looking for more individual accountability than the on-demand course and online community provide.
If you are looking for serious accountability while taking The Creative Path course, consider joining one of our seasonal Intensive programs. The Creative Path Intensive is a 13-week group coaching program that augments The Creative Path, the full on-demand course. You receive the full on-demand course for life and join a cohort of students guided weekly by an Intensive coach for support and accountability as you do the deep work of this system and map out the next year of your life and career. Learn more HERE.
Q: How do you take payments?
A: You will pay online via credit card through our secure payment system.
Q: Can I do a payment plan?
A: Your Focus Session must be paid for in full. However, we do offer payment plans for coaching packages. Ask your coach about this when discussing your coaching options.
Q: What is your refund/cancellation policy?
A: For all Capes Coaching standard policies, terms, and conditions please refer to our Policies and Procedures.
Q: What if I have other questions?
A: Please email us hello@capesco.com.
